The legend of the olive tree
Our garden is nestled amongst flourishing olive trees, which can live for centuries and were considered sacred by many ancient civilisations. Are you familiar with the legend of their creation? One day, Athena and Poseidon, two Ancient Greek gods, challenged each other to a contest to offer the best gift to the citizens of Attica. The judge would be Zeus, the father of the gods. Poseidon struck the earth with his trident, and a horse sprang forth, a symbol of strength and speed. Then, when Athena struck the ground with her spear, the first olive tree quickly grew. As the plant offered healing properties, bestowed well-being, and provided precious nutrients, Athena was declared the winner of the contest. So, are you ready to admire our legendary trees?
